The Hanging God

You play as Odin, after falling from Yggdrasil into the depths of Helheim.

According to the story, Odin was hanging from a branch of Yggdrasil with his spear, looking into Ginnungagap. Then the branch broke.

He fell.

Somehow, he ended up trapped in a prison in Helheim.

Now he has to find a way out.

The Hanging God is a 2D action platformer heavily inspired by Souls-like games. It mixes combat, exploration and platforming, with the spear being one of the main parts of both combat and movement.

Use the spear to fight, throw it, and use its momentum to move through the environment.

The demo takes place inside Helheim's prison and takes around 30 minutes to 1 hour and 30 minutes to complete.

This is only the beginning of Odin's story. In the larger world of The Hanging God, he will eventually travel through different realms such as Jötunheim and Niflheim on his way back to Asgard, searching for the sight of the runes and the knowledge of infinity.

But for now, there's a much simpler problem.

Get out of the prison.

The Hanging God is our first game. We're two developers making this together, and this demo is the result of us finally deciding to finish one of our projects.
