I tried repeatedly to get the rat king in the first two/three turns. After a while i got it and from there, i was really, really careful.I don't think I will try it again though.
I did not kill the lovers, the egg and rats. weirdly the rat king does not count

I haven't bought it, i play the free web based itch.io version. This also happens to me once in a while, a refresh fixes it everytime.I'm sure you tried it, but maybe the information helps you solve the problem
