This is so cute!!! I love the art and the little cats were so sweet. I felt like I was just getting locked in when it ended, looking forward to seeing where the story is going. I kept being worried why it seems like two ppl should be living there.... hmmmmMMM. The tilesets were beautiful, there were some collision issues but nothing game breaking, just awkward. I feel like I wanted the whole apartment to be way smaller, like it would just make it feel more cohesive and cozy, I sometimes felt almost lost wandering through the big middle area.
I loved all the little things you could click on, I don't think I spotted the easter egg! ah, idk. Oh and it's NEVER occurred to me to replace the loading image in the system folder. Adding that to my games to-do list, that's such a nice touch. I also really liked how you used the faces for the text boxes to show the different items or the "!" for information. Very clever and cohesive, visuals wise.
Good job! Can't wait for more <3
that's insane you made this in rpg maker!!! That was so fun, had me laughing out loud just from how cool the fights were. The art was really pretty, I love the white on black look. Each image was so dynamic and got the story and the atmosphere really well. A really unique use of the engine, I Love that.
Good timing these are in fact the last jams we’re doing where AI is allowed! All going forward are No AI allowed. We’d had a few hopeful cases where devs that relied on AI saw what others were doing and were inspired to make their own art and learn. And we’d hoped for more of that energy. But you’re right and we’ve never liked AI and it’s not longer tolerated here. These current jams will stay as is to be fair.
This was so nice! It had this really peaceful ethereal quality to it. I loved the bugs, which is probably odd haha. I couldn't really tell if they were helping or hurting, it seemed like helping and I found myself sad when I started to spot them unmoving on the ground. The swaying of the camera and the world made me a little motion sick, but I'm pretty sensitive to that. So I didn't play as long as I wanted. But I really really liked the art direction and vibe of this. And the big critters in the background!! I saw legs in that mist. HUGE legs. I think. But wow good job yall! Very polished and cohesive style for the time frame!
I just love the visual style!! the art is so cute, unfortunately there was some kind of bug where the UI or whatever was trying to pop up on screen was showing up as 1's. Everything I clicked on, it showed 1's like this. I thought I'd try and power through, but I don't think I'm able to interact with things correctly to progress.
But I love the music and the vibe is so stellar!! I love the color palette and the little sprites I could see. I really can't wait to play it when this bug is patched.
OOF this game hits hard. I really respect your ability to go there without it feeling like it's crossing lines. Definitely, I am grateful for the content warnings and they should be heeded, but it's an important message that rings through within the discomfort. And I don't think the message would ring as strongly without the discomfort.
I don't think I could play this again, but my feelings while I played it the first time will stick with me.
The mixture of the toxic POV and the metaphor for the bindings of perceived femininity were so striking. I could feel the vile justification in every word of the POV voice. And the implicit, always there, stark reality of the girls inability to speak for herself. Feels almost like it takes "haunting the narrative" to it's most extreme interpretation. Like I could imagine how angry or upset she would be at every step of the game. But of course she cannot speak for herself now. Only the Protag can. And their words were so vile and self serving. This constant pushing of this narrative, that this girl died not only "for" something, but for the Protag. To be found here. As a gift. Like as if it all boils down to the Protags wishes and thoughts, as if that's the pulling force of the whole universe. As if she's just a prop in their game of life.
It's not easy to write from such an gross POV. I'm sorry for you you had to go there, in writing. To me, it's not easy even if you do it so, so well.
Oh, I really loved the art and music in this! It was a fun flow and felt satisfying to see the things we planted running around more and more. At first I thought it was going to be a game play loop kind of like plants vs zombies, but I like how mobile it felt. It was fun just to zoom around and click. Good job!
I loved the aesthetic and the music so much! The perspective was so nice and I liked all the foreground elements! like, they really gave a good sense of depth. And a lot of the text cracked me up, for some reason the line "time to go to the Eldridge dimension" had me laughing. Like, sure buddy, it sure is. Our double on the other side gave me a start haha. I really liked the look of all the crops and the mechanics to grow them were really straight forward.
I ran into some terrain issues, where it was sometimes hard to get back on the main path (like the brown bump of the path acted like a real bump and I had to walk parallel to it to get back on) but nothing crazy bad. And I found I had to leave the garden plots completely to interact with them, so I couldn't go from one plot to the next quickly. But again, not game breaking at all. I found I wanted some like, haptic or audio feedback when I did things correctly. Like when I created the new seed, I wasn't sure it worked at first. But (again! haha) not a big deal and it's a jam and this is super polished for the time!! I really liked the music as well! the Eldridge track had some cool low key jump scares in it.
Really neat, would be a fun chill mobile game too.
I had seen screenshots in the discord and was so looking forward to this one and it definitely did not disappoint! It’s so pretty I just love the style. It took me a minute to realize what to do but once I did it was pretty straight forward. I couldn’t play as long as I wanted because it made me a bit motion sick, but that’s explicitly a me issue haha I struggle with first person games.
But I loved the art direction and really wanted to see what’s past that lagoon area where you fix the log!! I got so fixated on the farming right off and by the time I had to tap out I hadn’t gone back and fix the log yet. I’m going to give it another go later today to see the rest.
This was so interesting! I'll admit, at no point did I feel like I knew what to do, haha, but there were so many interesting little details. The night "creatures" really caught me off guard the first time I spotted one. And chasing them off the map was weirdly fun. The way the big tractor lurks like a bug in the mist was really creepy. I couldn't get anything to happen with the fire, I dont know if I was doing it wrong or ?? I collected a bunch of snails, ran around, couldnt figure out fuel for the tractor and then failed to meet quota. I see from the screenshots there's definitely more to the game! I really liked the aesthetics, good job! Wish I could have figured out how to see more of it.
Ahhh oxy I love your comments sm!! Hahaha, i was wondering if people would get the reference to that tumblr post (me being like "does this count as copyright? is that a thing with memes? I dont think so? oh well ill keep it subtle haha).
The music was done by SirShrugsalot, he's fantastic, this is the second game I've done with him (the other was Just Under). He picks up vibe and makes it into music so wonderfully. Chefs kiss, 10/10 recommend if you ever want to work with someone.
Your media literacy knows no bounds! You truly nailed it at every turn, I'm so glad all the little details resonated and the story made sense. I'm SO glad it even works, this was a bit of a nightmare lol. The singleplayer route def has some soft lock issues that I worry about. But it seems like people are getting through it okay. I'm really glad the character of Cybin rings through. I really love how her idle animations turned out. I was kind of inspired by Miyazaki talking about animating Chihiro in Spirited Away, the little quirks kids do etc and had fun fitting in little details like that.
That was the exact vibe I was going for with the mushroom! It's funny, I recently played a lot of Subnautica 2 with a friend and I had this running bit of how (spoilers I guess but it IS just a guess from me, not canon) that everything in that game is slowly "becoming crab" and I kept being like "I am become crab". So that was a big part of my inspo for this too, "I am become mushroom" which doesnt have a fun of a ring to it, but same idea. The idea of fungus and how it spreads / grows / mutates and thrives is so creepy and cool to me. When I saw the theme for this jam I was like "farming AND Eldridge AND mushrooms? please and thank you".
may we all, eventually, become mushroom 🍄 <3
if you could see the smile on my face!!!!! This is so lovely. I had the feeling what it was about right away. You're your own person and your person is no one else's business! Try out whatever and find your best most comfy self <3 there's all the time in the world.
You are such a master of composition, I just love watching everything you create so much.
