A Sprigs & Kindling TTRPG Jam

You know that game you've been meaning to finish?

Finish it.

The Get the Thing Done Jam is a low-pressure TTRPG jam about getting something out of your drafts folder and into the world. Start something during the retreat, resurrect an abandoned project, cut something enormous down to size, or finally put the finishing touches on the thing that's been 90% done for six months.

THE RULES

  1. Make a tabletop game thing. A game, adventure, supplement, playset, procedure, generator, hack, one-pager, ashcan, or something else we haven't thought of.
  2. Old projects are welcome. Unlike a lot of jams, you do not have to start from scratch. Please finish that thing.
  3. Small is good. You don't get bonus points for making it 80 pages.
  4. Messy is allowed. It does not have to be the definitive edition. It has to exist.
  5. Work together. Ask somebody to edit it. Trade playtests. Get help with layout. Borrow your friends' skill trees.
  6. Multiple submissions are fine. Apparently you have your shit together.
  7. Be cool. No hate speech, bigotry, harassment, etc.
  8. Human-made. This is your project, not a machine's. Generative AI may not be used to create writing, artwork, layout, or other creative content submitted to the jam. Tools used for accessibility, spelling, grammar, or other non-generative assistance are fine.

THE ONLINE WRITING RETREAT

This jam is running alongside the Sprigs & Kindling Online Writing Retreat 2026, where we'll be spending the week writing, designing, editing, laying things out, staring into the middle distance, asking our friends for help, and otherwise attempting to get things done.

You don't have to attend the retreat to join the jam.

NEED HELP GETTING THE THING DONE?

Stuck? Try one:

  • Cut the scope in half.
  • Make the bad version.
  • Ask someone else to do the part you hate.
  • Tell someone what you're going to finish today.
  • Work somewhere you don't normally work.
  • Open an abandoned project instead of starting another one.
  • Leave yourself a note telling Future You exactly what to do next.
  • Decide what "done enough" looks like.

THE THEME

FINISH IT.

That's it.
