Are you ready to go back to the era of pixels?
The Retro Pixel Jam is a Game Jam dedicated to the visual style and spirit of classic 8 bit and 16 bit games. The goal is to create a game inspired by the classic era of video games, using your creativity to turn a surprise theme into a fun and memorable experience.
Your game can be a platformer, adventure, puzzle, RPG, action game, horror game, arcade game, or any other genre.
The only requirement is that we want to feel the spirit of classic games that marked a generation.
The theme of the jam will be revealed when the jam begins.
Start date: October 24, 2026 at 19:00
Submission deadline: October 31, 2026 at 19:20
Voting ends: November 7, 2026 at 19:00 - (It will be voted on by a jury made up of Brazilian developers and YouTubers.)
All times are based on the local time provided by itch.io.
You will have approximately 7 days to develop your game.
Your game should aim for a visual style inspired by classic video games, especially:
Nintendo NES
Game Boy
Super Nintendo SNES
Mega Drive Genesis
You do not need to perfectly reproduce the style of any specific console. The idea is to interpret the retro aesthetic in your own way.
Pixel art, limited color palettes, small sprites, chiptune music, retro sound effects, and other characteristics of the era are highly encouraged.
Creativity is more important than perfectly reproducing a specific console.
